15 When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “Perhaps Joseph will hate us, and may actually repay us for all the evil which we did to him.” 16 So they sent messengers to Joseph, saying, “Before your father died he commanded, saying, 17 ‘Thus you shall say to Joseph: “I beg you, please forgive the trespass of your brothers and their sin; for they did evil to you.”’ Now, please, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of your father.” And Joseph wept when they spoke to him.
18 Then his brothers also went and fell down before his face, and they said, “Behold, we are your servants.”
19 Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God? 20 But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. 21 Now therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.” And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.
Genesis 50
God’s ways are not our ways!
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the LORD.9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
There are things I cannot understand. When I was a little girl, my Daddy would carry my suitcase. He would lift heavy things for me that were too much for me to bear.
That is what our Heavenly Father does for us. There are some things that are too heavy for us to bear. There are some things we are not strong enough to understand. For now, we must trust Him to lift the burden and let Him carry us when we feel we cannot go on.
When He speaks to us, we must do as Samuel.
8 And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. So he arose and went to Eli, and said, “Here I am, for you did call me.”
Then Eli perceived that the LORD had called the boy. 9 Therefore Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down; and it shall be, if He calls you, that you must say, ‘Speak, LORD, for Your servant hears.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 Now the LORD came and stood and called as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!”
And Samuel answered, “Speak, for Your servant hears.”
11 Then the LORD said to Samuel…
1 Samuel 3
Samuel was but a boy and yet God came to speak with Him. Samuel didn’t overanalyze, He just obeyed.
There are things in my life right now too heavy to bear. Things I cannot understand.
I trust my Father to carry these things for me. I will follow Him. As Job says:
Job 13:15
Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.
There is little else to say.
Lord, when we do not understand yet we will trust in you. When we hurt, we trust that your thoughts are higher. When you speak we will answer. All of the depth of our soul are but a book for you to read. I trust you to carry the burdens I cannot bear. Help those who are hurting and in pain today. Be with those who grieve. Bless all those who hide in your love. In Jesus name. Amen
